How Micro Loans affect poor women in Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka there are many Micro finance companies which are not registered or licensed. They target the poor women in villages promising a better future but in reality, the poor women get trapped in a never ending loan cycle. When the cannot repay the loan amount, they tend to take another loan to repay the previous loan with the interest. This goes on and on until the whole family decides to take off their lives as they have no means of settling all these loan amounts. This tragedy has to stop. The micro finance companies should be given proper guidelines and the women in local villages has to be supported by both the government and other non governmental organizations.
